Volunteering

We are looking for the following volunteers:
  • Fundraisers. We desperately need people who can help out with our stalls and other fundraising events. If you can spare an hour or two please a few weekends a year please do get in touch.
  • Fosterers. We are looking for experienced cat owners to be fosterers. You must be willing to accommodate a cattery-style cabin in your garden to house single or pairs of cats who are awaiting rehoming. As well as caring for the cats to Cats Protection's standards (all expenses are paid) you will have to welcome potential adopters. This is very rewarding work but is quite a commitment and the cost of the cabins and installation means it is a substantial investment for us, so we would want to be sure you can take this on for a reasonable period of time.
  • Speakers. We give talks to local clubs and societies, and to school groups. These mostly take place during the day. We are looking for people who can help with this. Support materials and plenty of guidance are available.
Volunteer publicity team leader

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

Enquiries Volunteer

As a charity we receive numerous enquiries on a daily basis from members of the public related to cats and feline welfare. Our enquiries volunteers are part of a passionate team of volunteers that help Cats Protection signpost and manage these enquiries. They help our feline friends answering questions from members of the public, providing advice and signposting queries to other volunteers and staff if needed.

Volunteer co-ordinator

At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups. We have over 250 branches across the UK, all of which help our feline friends in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our volunteer co-ordinators lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and staff, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

Volunteer fosterer

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens needing temporary homes until they find their forever families. Many of our feline friends are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need.
